I have been giving great concideration to what it means to be called and how a person who is called is to go about fullfulling such a responsiblity. It is interesting to be told that you have been chosen to serve the abosom, especially for me since I have never concidered myself to be some spiritual "guru". If one were to judge from some of my previous post in the Kmtyw Spiritual Systems forum then it would be easy to come to the conclution that KofiAsr doesn't want anything to do with spirituality. Just for the record let me say that I do practice an indiginous Kmtyw spiritual
tradition(s) and I have always been intrigued by the spirit world. On the other hand I have not had any experience that one would think a person who is destined to be a priest would have. I have not seen the future (well that may not be exactly true), I have not seen any ancestors or orisa, I do not hear voices, or read thoughts or any of those things that I would concider spiritual and I have done my share of dirt in my life. So why would I be chosen for this work? If my ancestors did this work, why did they not contact me and tell me that this is what I am supposed to be doing? If this is really  my destiny, do I have to do anything special to fullfill it, outside of what I was doing before he or she was told? Please forgive me reader ( and ancestors and abosom) for all of the questions but I am just looking for some clarification. Unfortunatly I have not gotten the answers I need to satisfy my curiosity about the unseen (although I do think it is seen by some).

Your humility speaks wonders of your ability to assist in the "spiritual" realm of our Kmtyw belief systems. I apologize but I don't have a "cookie cutter" approach to understanding how to develop this responsibility because I'm learning as well. I've learned that sometimes the answer is pretty simple and lies within ourselves only if we don't allow others' logic, experiences...etc to influence our own personal journeys, experiences and/or answers.  Please don't think I'm saying we don't need guidance because we certainly do.....sometimes. I appreciate your honesty and openness.

My brother, there is a saying in twi that nipa ntumi nseE deye nyame ahyira no. Man can not destroy the one blessed of the creator. To be chosen is a calling. Let us remind ourselves and others of the origional holiness of life. We are on the Kmtyw page. Holism which returns us to our roots also returns us to our sanctity, sankofa which means return is really a return to our temples  our shrines and our ancestors. From my observations here in the Western world I see that Islam, Christianity and Judaism the three monotheistic religions have really distorted Kmtyw spirituality in the minds of many. Being called does not mean you have lived with no mistakes. Spiritual growth means we have lived, made mistakes learned from them. It means taking responsiblity for our ignorance and mis education. It means we are working to dewhitenize or to pull ourselves out of concepts and ideas that disempower us. That said, a call to serve the spirit is a call to a higher state of consciousness. If this is truly of the spirit the help will come without your bending yourself out of shape. Relax in the knowledge that Onyankopon Twedeapon is totally dependable. The abosom are the children of the creator and they do his work by ensuring there is harmony and balance. This exacting task of serving to ensure communal harmony comes with maturity so also remember timing is very important.
