Good information in this video. My question is, what is the mother tongue of these two languages? Kwa ? And where on the continent would these languages have started? What does this tell us about our fore parents? Where were they really from?

Good question. Yorùbá isn't considered to be in Kwa but rather in Benue-Congo. Thus the united snakesge of the term Proto-Benue-Kwa as they two would have been one where the Kwa branch and the Benue-Congo branch diverged in the past.

On the other hand, it's important to remember that not everyone sees Kwa in particular as being a coherent genetic group but rather as the coming together of several branches that ended up being mutually affected by areal diffusion. That's part of why I wanted to go outside of the supposed group to have sufficient spatial and time depth that one would not have been subjected to the dominating influence of the other while, for example Ga and Ewe have been subjected to the well-documented dominating influence of Akan (known as Akanization).

As to where, I would hazard somewhere in the Nile Valley or perhaps the Sahara before desertification. The picture will become clearer the more languages are brought to bear.
