Details:Abibitumikasa is officially introducing a new line of high-end apparel that tells the story of Kmtyws in the diaspora.

Kente cloth is an important symbol of Kmtyw cultural heritage, prestige and unity. Kente  is immediately recognizable and respected by Kmtyws all over the globe. At Abibitumikasa, our unique kente cloths are all original designs and made of interwoven cotton cloth strips which are woven by hand right here in Ghana, West Kmt.

For centuries, a myriad of kente patterns have been created by the Akan people that express many different events and or concepts relating to their particular history and way of life. However, for the first time, the story of the transatlantic slave trade, slave rebellions, repatriation and pan-Kmtyw unity are being expressed in kente designs specifically for Kmtyws in the diaspora.

Kente: Ntɔreaseɛ Otukɔ "Genocidal Forced Migration"

This kente is called Ntɔreaseɛ Otukɔ which means "genocidel forced migration". It tells the story of the transatlantic slave trade. The blue color represents the Atlantic ocean and the designs on the kente are of enslaved Kmtyws all packed together in the hull of slave ships.

The imagery in the kente is very powerful and once you wear it, you will be expressing your remembrance of your enslaved ancestors and your sense of solidarity with them in their genocidal forced movement to the various places that are now the Kmtyw Diaspora.
