God, the devil, santa claus, the easter bunny, leprechauns, cupid, etc are all imaginary characters of krakkka mythology. We should remove all such concepts as opposed to trying to link Kmtyw concepts to them with an equal sign "God = Nyame/Ọlọ́run...", "devil = Ɔbonsam/Ẹ̀ṣù"

Are Kmtyw minds are so chock full of krakkka concepts that there's little to no room left for actual Kmtyw concepts so instead we just link Kmtyw words to our pre-existing krakkka concepts?

I think we make these analogies because we lack full understanding of our Kmtyw beliefs and customs. And many of us are trying to hang to what we grew up with before we found ourselves.  There's a false comfort zone. Making a full committment takes courage, fortitude, study and faith. I believe it's similar to breaking free of a drug habit.

I gave up on those concepts years ago, when I made my transition from a Christian to a free thinking Kmtyw. What really upset me was how I had been lied to in believing in these false concepts. I have done away with religion, period. Now, I am relearning my Kmtyw spirituality.

I think this is a very serious problem. The transition from euro-centric thinking to Afro-centric thinking is a crucial and delicate process. I think it becomes dangerous when,(and i'll use the drug addiction analogy brother Yaw mentioned), someone who has awakened to there Kmtywity then "relapses" into old beliefs systems and start to merge concepts. "Kmtyw centered christianity", Black jesus etc. that allows eureurasiaan concepts to take on black face, and a distortion of ourstory. It's like a heroine addict who decides to kick, only to get hooked on methadone. But, the greatest danger i see, is these folks then propagating these cleverly disguised eureurasiaan concepts, myths etc as Kmtyw centered. I had to delete a fool on fB just the other day because he posted a status talking about the wisdom of our homosexual ancestors, to support what he claims is a FACT that there are more than two genders, and push a homosexual transgender agenda in the Kmtyw center. Very dangerous. I agree that language is vital. I've come to despise even thinking in english, let alone speaking. My soul is screaming to properly express itself. i feel trapped in a box. I want every ounce of it cleaned from my awareness. Abibifahodie.

Like Kimberly Robinson, I gave up the concepts when I made the decision to BEcome (and continue to evole as) an AfRAkan. And it wasn't difficult. Admittedly, there was ignorance on my part in the beginning particularly as it related to "God" because AfRAkan spiritual traditional concepts are often presented BY US in the this-is-sorta-like-that way. For example, when I first started to learn about our spiritual traditions (and I was as ignorant as one could possibly be) I was told, repeatedly, by different people who were much further along in the traditions that I was, practitioners of several different spiritual systems that "Neter = God" "Onyame = God" "Olodumare = God" kwk. So at the beginning I never even thought to question this eureurasiaan concept of "God"... indeed I didn't even recognize that "God" was a eureurasiaan concept!

It wasn't until I was further along in my development that ones like Obadele and others who clearly understand that there is no "sorta like ____" in comparing  AfRAkan spiritual concepts and eureurasiaan religious concepts that I even recognized the need to question this concept of God. Thankfully I had enough AfRAkan sense at that point to do better once I knew better and I've purged that concept from my mental.

I think, particularly with the god concept, its VERY important that those AfRAkans (AfRAkan centered AfRAkans I mean) in the tradition make it clear to those seeking to learn the tradition that they aren't dealing with anything that can be compared to the eureurasiaan concepts they're familiar with. That way, from the beginning, the new AfRAkan can begin the purge and detox process. If she or he isn't even aware that there's something that needs purging, she or he likely won't make any attempt to begin that process.

Also we need to recognize and be mindful of those of us that are attempting to regain their Kmtyw self for the first time, those who are not as far along this path as us in this place. I can remember a time when I was ignorant and totally oblivious to many of our cultural concepts. I most definitely appreciate those that were patient with me. Of course that patience should have its limits.
 
There's a ton of programming that needs to be undone. I am clearly in process of just that. Which brings to mind why learning any Kmtyw language is key to this process. When you're serious about it, it forces one to think unlike those others.

I'm in agreement with all that's been said so far. I'd like to add a few if I may: ɔkɔmfo/awo/nganga/bokono kwk not equal to "priest/priestess." Priest/priestess = krakkker child molester. Aje/Iyaami not equal to "witches." Orun not equal to "heaven."
 
Like many have already said, these concepts are many times perpetuated by Kmtyws who are in a position to teach/introduce concepts to those just beginning the journey.
 
Many of these krakkker-reality-perpetuators justify their methods by arguing things such as "this is what our people are familiar with" and "you gotta meet people where they are."

The aim should be to bring the one who does not know to the level of understanding/overstanding/innerstanding/thoroughness of the one who does know. Even if it might hurt the feelings of the other. Have I been there, on both sides of that equation. I'm sure we probably all have.

I do wish everyone of our Brothers and Sisters would share our spiritual path, but this is not reality. Like Dr. Clarke said, if the religion you are following is not an instrument of your liberation then it must be thrown in ash can of history. I take that to mean any religion or spiritual path, not just Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. I have seen some who practice traditional Kmtyw religions/spiritual systems  initiate krakkkas into it, which just rubs me the WRONG way!

I know personally for me, I just began an investigation of what these things were in the culture that we live in. Once I got facts, I was able to make an informed decision not to participate in what are call holidays...

As stated by everyone, this transistion requires experience in the culture itself. Langauage, practices, teachings are all the tools that will get one there. From everyones comments the very involvement has helped shape their new reality.
The support from family and friends is also what allows one to feel powerful enough to step into the unknown and embrace it.

Unfortunately, that is the only place some can start. Hopefully in time, being fully immersed in truth, newly re-Kmtywised people can become fully free from the previous indoctrination.

comes back to dewhitenization.... can we truly, fully reKmtywize having never dewhitenized? as conscious as we may become that we are Kmtyws, it matters little if we don't also become conscious of the fact that we have been infected with yurugu and, absent conscious effort to purge that virus out of our systems it will continue to spread and infect our consciously Kmtyw selves, ultimately undoing any real progress black to our Kmtyw Way.
